Aventure was born from a friendship and a shared passion for rye whisky . Antoine Gravouil, Olivier Carsoule, Éric Lafon, and Jean Dujardin dreamed of a great French rye: demanding, organic, artisanal, and true to the dry and spicy intensity of rye. From London to Bordeaux, the idea matured until it came to life within the Bordeaux Distilling Company , in the Bacalan district.
Here, everything is done in-house, from brewing to distillation. The rye , sourced in France and organically grown , is processed using an unfiltered mash method, without filtering the wort, in order to preserve the full aromatic richness of the grain. Each batch gives rise to a unique whisky: one batch, one whisky .
The urban winery, deliberately left without air conditioning, results in significant temperature fluctuations. The wood reacts quickly, extraction is intense, and the angel's share is high—up to 30% in five years. The barrels, mostly new and heavily toasted , are sometimes supplemented with casks that previously held fine Bordeaux wines or other spirits, further refining the aromatic profile.
From this exacting standard are born whiskies of tension and depth, concentrated, powerful, and intensely expressive. Aventure doesn't copy any model: it forges its own path and asserts a unique signature in the rye landscape, the "made in France" style. Read less
