Barbosa Amado & Vicente

In 1966, Paulino Barbosa Vicente and his cousin Carlos Barbosa Amado bought 1,775 hectares in Cape Verde.
They grow bananas, coconut palms and sugar cane.
They began producing grogue (the local rum) in 1970.
In 2001, 35 hectares were converted to organic farming, including 9 dedicated to sugarcane production.
It was also in 2001 that a 250-liter copper still was installed, heated directly by the flame. Read less
