Bladnoch

Bladnoch is a Scottish whisky distillery located near Wigtown in the Dumfries and Galloway district, on the banks of the River Bladnoch , from which it draws its water. Founded in 1817 by brothers John and Thomas McClelland , it is the southernmost distillery in Scotland and one of the last three still operating in the Lowlands . Its history is marked by numerous periods of closure, sales, and rebuilding, notably after the 1938 sale which led to the dismantling of the stills, followed by its revival in 1956. After several changes of ownership during the 20th century and another period of closure in 1993, the distillery was relaunched in 2000 by Raymond Armstrong, with two stills . Bladnoch single malt has only been commercially available since April 2008, while older bottlings continue to be offered by independent bottlers. Today, Bladnoch produces up to 250,000 liters of alcohol per year using modern equipment including a 5.4-tonne mash tun, six fermentation tanks, and two stills dedicated to distillation (a wash still and a spirit still).
