Clonakilty Irish Whiskey – The elegance of West Cork

In the heart of Ireland 's southwest coast, Clonakilty Irish Whiskey combines artisanal tradition with a quest for innovation. Nestled in Clonakilty, the Scully family distillery transforms barley from its ancestral lands, bathed by Atlantic sea spray, into whiskeys with subtle marine notes.

Terroir and character

The mild climate and salty air of West Cork influence the maturation of the casks, giving the whiskeys a unique aromatic profile. The barley grains, cultivated for over 300 years on the family land, become a rich and complex spirit, imbued with the spirit of the ocean.

Expertise and distillation

Clonakilty employs triple distillation in three copper pot stills, with a long fermentation lasting over 100 hours . The distillate, diluted with pure spring water, is aged in ex-bourbon, virgin oak, and wine barrels for perfect depth and balance.

Maturation and bottling

The casks rest in the "Atlantic Warehouse," perched on a cliff, where the sea air enriches the whiskey with briny nuances. The bottling, done entirely on-site, delicately adjusts the spirit's strength to reveal its full range of flavors.

An experience to be lived

The elegant bottles, adorned with a stylized whale, reflect the brand's maritime roots and premium character. The distillery is open to the public, offering tours, tastings, and an introduction to the traditional methods of crafting local whiskeys and gins.

A refined range

The distillery offers two blends — Port Cask and Double Oak — and a fruity and chocolatey single malt, illustrating the harmony between terroir, sea, and artisanal expertise. Read less
