In the 19th century, a Swiss merchant from Basel travelled the world in search of rare commodities.
Disembarking in Jamaica, he discovered rum and fell under its spell.
Back in Switzerland, he wanted to introduce this genuine, straightforward rum to Europe. In 1889, he founded the Compagnie Rhumière de Bâle in Switzerland, which gave rise to the CoRuBa brand name. Since 1962, Coruba rum has been produced by J.Wray & Nephew, but blending and bottling are carried out in Basel. Read less
