Willett is not only an American brand, but also a distillery.

The Willett family has been making whiskey since the 19th century. However, it wasn't until 1936 that a distillery was built on the family farm.

This activity continued until the early 1980s. Hit by the recession, the Willett distillery was forced to cease production.

In 1984, the company was renamed Kentucky Bourbon Distillers(KBD). From then on, KBD mainly bought its whiskey from Kentucky producers. KBD thus operated as an independent bottler. The 1990s saw the launch of the Small Batch Boutique Bourbon Collection. These included Rowan's Creek and Noah's Mill.

Then, in 2012, a new chapter begins. Distillation resumed and the Willett name reappeared.

Finally, there are a few examples of KBD bottlings: Willett Pot Still Reserve and Le Old Bardstown. Read less
