1423 SBS Jamaica Barbados is a single cask bottling of a blend of traditional English rums. They come from different distilleries in Jamaica and Barbados.
Jamaican rum is still distilled, while Bajan rum from Barbados is column distilled. These rums rested for many years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels in a tropical climate. Their ages remain unspecified.
The selected cask was used to bring 295 units to market. Bottling took place in Denmark in October 2021, without cold filtration to preserve maximum flavor.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is very greedy and fruity, typical of an English style full of excessively ripe, almost creamy, exotic fruit. It's also pastry-like, with bitter almond milk spiked with cherry pits.
Aeration tightens the profile to red fruits and dark berries, while retaining the elegant, gourmet cherry pits. A slight powdery, coppery edge keeps the flame and character of this lightly-bodied, above all generous rum alive.
On the palate, Jamaica takes over, with a full profile of dried banana and blond tobacco. It's easy to recognize the Worthy Park distillery signature. The woodiness and spiciness are then carried by a hint of alcohol that tickles the taste buds, and a certain roastiness is evident on the palate.
The finish takes us back to our full-bodied, gourmet rum, tasty and easy at the same time.
"A blend that gives pride of place to Jamaica, but where the balance is well found thanks to the proportions of pot still and column..."
