1731 Fine & Rare Panama 6 ans 46° has been column distilled and aged for 6 years in ex-bourbon oak casks.
Like all rums in the 1731 range, no caramel or sugar has been added, and the rum has not been cold-filtered. So all its aromatic richness has been preserved.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is divided between the sweetness of vanilla or caramel, and the depth of a rather heavy, aroma-laden rum. Indeed, there's a hint of iodine, between olive and anchovy. In any case, this sweet and salty gourmet ambience is mouth-watering.
Aeration brings out more caramel, or rather molasses, with accents of licorice, sweet spices and a hint of roasting.
On the palate, we are initially faced with a character close to a great sweet aroma, with olive, leather and very ripe exotic fruit, all coated in a caramel glaze. Wood and roasted nuts bring a little spice to the mid-palate, for a little more relief.
The finish is round, and above all quite long, thanks to a little bitterness of citrus zest.
"A surprising concentration and beautiful aromatic intensity for this rum from Panama..."
