Ableforth's Bathtub gin is a nod to the prohibition of the 1920s in the United States. According to various legends, bootleggers used their bathtubs to produce bootleg alcohol, including gin. These bathtubs were used to macerate juniper berries, plants and spices in grain alcohol.
Produced in small batches using the traditional “cold compounding” method, this gin is the result of an initial distillation followed by a cold infusion.
The infusion is made with juniper berries, orange and lemon peels, coriander, cinnamon and cloves.
The design of the bottle is also reminiscent of prohibition. Kraft paper was widely used to conceal the contents of bottles filled with alcohol.
