England
England, Her Majesty's country, is renowned for its beer and whisky. But the British Isle has an important "rum" culture, thanks to the many rum-producing Caribbean islands and countries that made up the Commonwealth. Finally, there are several rum distilleries in England.
Rum is enjoying a certain success on the British Isle, accounting for 10% of the UK spirits market, with white and spiced rum accounting for the majority of sales.
The main British rum brands are Alnwick (created in the early 1900s in the north-east of England), Black Tot and Old Sam (rum imported to London from Guyana in 1797). Other lesser-known brands include the new Matugga rums. Read less
