The name Altabruma is the fusion of Alta and Bruma which can be translated as “High Mists”. This is a direct reference to the geographical location of the Botran distillery which is the origin of this rum.
Botran is located in Guatemala, more precisely in Quetzaltenango at an altitude of 2300 m. The canes are grown on the Pacific coast in a unique terroir. The first press juice is heated to reduce its water content and increase its sugar concentration. This is followed by fermentation for 5 to 7 days and then distillation in a traditional still.
In order to respect the environment, aging takes place in a variety of recycled barrels. In the cellar we find barrels which were used to age American whisky, sherry and Port.
This vintage is the result of a blend of rums aged between 3 and 10 years.
