Botran
Botran is a family that gave its name to Guatemala's first distillery. Already well known in this small Central American country for sugarcane production, the Botran family moved into rum production when five brothers noticed that the high altitude in the heart of the country provided ideal conditions for ageing. Thus, in 1939, Industria Licorera Quezalteca was created.
While the family controls the cultivation of the cane plants that are then used to distill the rum, it has also adopted the solera aging system, which ensures harmonious maturation. The oak casks are stored at an altitude of 2,400 m to slow down the process and allow the brandy to better absorb the aromas.
Botran is now a brand recognized the world over for the finesse and richness of its rums. Read less
