Auténtico Nativo Salvaje 40°: Description and customer reviews

Auténtico Nativo Salvaje is a molasses rum originating from Panama and produced by the Las Cabras distillery.

The molasses comes from sugar canes grown and harvested by hand on the volcanic soil of the Herrera region of Panama.
Once the molasses is produced, a 3-day fermentation phase follows. Next comes distillation in a continuous distillation column made of brass and copper.

For this vintage, Eduardo Perez, the master blender, wanted aging in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The rums in this blend are between 6 and 10 years old.

Jérémie's tasting notes

On the nose: A generous dose of caramel, accompanied by vanilla and roasted notes reminiscent of chocolate. Some dried fruit and a woody undertone complete the bouquet. The alcohol is noticeable on the nose.

On the palate: The attack is soft and smooth, with notes of honey caramel and vanilla. The profile then evolves towards dried fruit and roasted oak, already present on the nose, which bring a lovely chocolate dimension. Spices then take over, with a touch of pepper and nutmeg. Finally, a slight bitterness reminiscent of cherry pits brings the tasting to a close.

The finish: Of medium length, it remains smooth and expresses itself on spices, with a little fruity side and the return of roasted notes.
