This single cask was bottled in November 2022 without cold filtration. This barrel produced 335 numbered bottles.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is immediately marked by a metallic, coppery, very slightly smoky touch, with a sensation of warm metal which also diffuses aromas of very concentrated kernels. It is in this atmosphere halfway between industrial and pastry chef that we get to know our rum.
Aeration takes us to the side of very ripe exotic fruits, which coat our senses with their tropical warmth. The flamed oak barrel is not far away, it adds a layer of intensity as well as a rather burning spirit.
On the palate , the balance between deliciousness and burning notes continues and is illustrated at every moment. Firstly, the rum has a fatty and coating texture, which allows it to settle very quietly. It can then unfold its fruity, smoky flavors, almond stones and cream, all intertwined in a charred nut cake batter.
The finish is long and loaded with tar, smoke, toasted wood and licorice.
“An enormous Port Mourant slipped into a velvet glove…”
