The Classic Range is produced by 300-year-old independent bottler Berry Bros. & Rudd.
The aim of this range is to represent the different styles of Scotch whiskies (Islay, Speyside, Highlands...), and more recently, rums (Barbados, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Guatemala).
Berry Bros. presents a rum from Jamaica.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is enveloped by a beautiful basket of ripe exotic fruit. The Jamaican funk is firmly in place, but in a nicely rounded way. There's a fleshy, very ripe banana, still warm from the heat of the late day. It's surrounded by a few sweet spices that surely take us towards a pastry-like, almond-cream-scented ambience.
Aeration leads to more vegetal and resinous notes, with pine sap and a hint of fresh thyme or rosemary. The wine's complexity evolves constantly, caressing cherries in alcohol, mango, custard...
The palate is very smooth, despite an aromatic profile that is authentically Jamaican, and therefore resolutely full-bodied. This gives us the opportunity to appreciate its exuberant character without being rushed, by taking our time. Very ripe, even dried bananas, milky almonds and egg cream blossom in a creamy texture.
The finish is fruity, exotic and pastry-like, with traces of jackfruit and raisins.
"A perfect rum for discovering the aromas of Jamaica without ever being rushed by the power..."
