This Cane Island bottled rum is a blend of column-distilled rums from Cuba.
The blended rums are aged in American white oak barrels in a tropical climate. Some are up to 5 years old.
Nico's tasting notes
The light nose of this rum is fairly typical of the Cuban tradition. Soft vanilla notes and a hint of caramel are present, but there's also a more concentrated core of ripe, sticky fruit.
Aeration gives way to notes of roasting, toasted and caramelized wood. This wood eventually gives way to more and more caramel and butter, taking on a slightly soaked, moist air.
The palate is soft, with a moderately sweet texture. It is greedy and aromatic, with fairly easy flavors of vanilla and caramel, but also a touch of leather, battery syrup, licorice and caramelized pecans.
The finish is well rounded and tightens on both coffee and molasses.
"A round, smooth rum that nonetheless offers authentic sugarcane molasses brandy flavors..."
