Like all cachaça, Capucana Handcrafted is made exclusively from cane juice.
Sugar cane is grown on farms such as Santa Lidia, Capuava and Bertioga, on land rich in phosphorus and iron. Each farm brings different, complementary flavors and aromas.
The final blend is made with vintages that have spent 3 years in American oak barrels (ex-bourbon and ex-Islay), and with other unaged batches to achieve a balance between freshness and complexity.
Laurent's tasting notes
Her dress is barely straw-colored.
On the nose, it's quite complex, with a number of aromas, some of them quite unusual. First of all, pepper is quite remarkable, complemented by vegetal notes. Fruit is not to be outdone, with strawberry and citrus, though these are more discreet. There's also a slight smokiness and creaminess.
On the palate, the attack is marked by pepper, then comes its vegetal and slightly earthy side. Relatively fresh and well-balanced, even if not all the aromas of the nose are present.
The finish is fairly long, dominated by smoky notes and a slight woodiness.
