Chalong Bay White Spiced is in the tradition of infused rums from the Phuket distillery in Thailand. The pure cane juice rum is steam-infused during distillation with 9 natural Thai and Asian herbs and spices.
The distillery has designed an infusion vessel placed after the column of its Armagnac alembic and before the condenser. This allows the aromas of the natural ingredients to be extracted with the vapors from the heating core in a gentle, pure and controlled way.
The idea behind Chalong Bay White Spiced is to create a pure spiced rum. This is done without additives, caramel, added sugars or flavors, simply by distillation.
Chalong Bay White Spiced is very easy to drink neat or on the rocks. The flavors of the 9 ingredients gradually develop and open up. All the while retaining the sugarcane base and Chalong Bay identity. It's great with tonic or ginger ale and ice cubes. It can also be used in cocktails, as a daiquiri for example.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is a little sweetness of sweet spices and cane, a kind of cinnamon-flavored rhum agricole de Noël with a vegetal, eminently tropical languor. Harmony is quickly created, with a brioche-like "cinnamon roll", refreshed by cardamom and filled with a sweet cream of lime zest.
The palate is velvety without being sweet, round without being liquorish, which makes for a rather delicious sensation on the attack. Mild spices delicately coat the cane juice, with some naturally peppery accents underlined by lime zest.
