Chantal Comte L'Arbre du Voyageur 3 ans d'âge 53,5° : Description and customer reviews

Chantal Comte L'Arbre du Voyageur 3 ans d'âge is an AOC agricultural rum from Martinique. It was selected in the cellars of La Mauny, in particular lodge n°15. It is aged for 3 years in French oak barrels from the Tronçais forest.

After resting for 8 months in stainless steel barrels, it was bottled at 53.5% brut de fût.

"L'Arbre du Voyageur" is a tropical palm tree that is a sign of welcome at the entrance to West Indian homes. Chantal Comte chose to name this cuvée in homage to this tradition.

The cuvée is numbered and limited to 3,000 bottles.

At Chantal Comte's request, this rum underwent only light cold filtration under the supervision of Daniel Baudin (Maître de Chai La Mauny). As a result, most of the bottles in our possession have a natural, perfectly drinkable deposit, a sign of quality.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose immediately reveals a striking maturity for the rum's young age. The concentration is there, and the liquid hasn't just skimmed the walls of the barrel. It seems to have gone to the very depths of its fibers to extract the juice, blending it greedily with the ripe, sweet cane. The spices greatly enhance the profile, seasoning a full-bodied exotic fruit salad.

Aeration brings us back to the original white rum, with pronounced lime notes. The freshness of Martinique rum comes to the fore, with its precision and spicy minerality. The acidic fruit is then brought to the fore by the strength, before quickly regaining its age and presence.

The palate is lively and very spicy. The woodiness is ample and rather monumental for its young age. It develops vegetal, peppery and roasted notes, with a very clear, sustained aromatic consistency. The fruit is candied in the wood, giving it an envelope of fragrant, spicy rind, solid yet melting on the tongue. As it melts, the rum spreads out the mellow dried fruit and exotic wood, with hints of cedar and cigar box.

The finish offers a snapshot of fresh cane, accompanied by its faithful peppery and citrus notes.

"An intense, solid rum that impresses with its maturity..."

In addition to our own tasting notes, here are Chantal Comte's main observations: fullness and elegance on the nose, no aggressive alcohol; a persistent palate of incense, vanilla, sweet spices and a touch of aniseed.

  5. Fabien

If you've never tasted it before, you'd have no idea that the rum is "only" 3 years old. Quite frankly, it's a success. Thank you Chantal, thank you La Mauny!

  6. Simon Leroux

A very good product, just perhaps a tad expensive for its young age. But apart from that, it's a very nice rum.

  7. Sebastien BODRERO

Superb bottle, it's hard to believe it's just a 3-year-old.

  8. Arnaud Letellier

I'd never heard of the Chantal Comte range before. I am delighted
