Clément Vieux 10 ans 42° : Description and customer reviews

This very old rum is made from vintages aged a minimum of 10 years, selected by the Maison Clément cellar master. Maturation takes place first in Limousin oak casks, then in bourbon barrels.

The barrels we use are small (200 liters), allowing us to take full advantage of the aromas of the wood and Martinique's terroir.

Clément Rhum Vieux 10 ans has won three prestigious gold medals.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose of this rum plays the Martinique range without false note: we get freshness and spice as soon as the glass is poured. Then we realize that these spices are mingled with a fine woodiness of exotic essences, reminiscent of the distinguished side of a cigar box. After a handful of dried fruits (papaya and pineapple, among others), we note a dried orange peel, like the kind you'd use for Christmas schrubb.
This fruity register becomes fuller with aeration. The bouquet is exotic, like a cocktail of dried fruits you'd nibble on as an aperitif. The woodiness is spicy, deeper and richer, like honey, enhanced by the warmth of dry pineapple.

Spicy on the palate, relatively dry, the rum offers an elegant core. Then it gains in roundness and thickness with ripe fruit and orange, this time candied. The tasting continues with a clear line of spicy wood (cinnamon, licorice).

The finish is long, greedy, with raisins and candied orange, for a rather pastry-like character. The tongue is slightly drowsy, like after eating a kumquat.

"A rum that sums up Martinique's style and can accompany a dessert or a coffee without showing off too much..."
