Compagnie des Indes Boulet de Canon n°11 46° : Description and customer reviews

The new edition of Compagnie des Indes Boulet de Canon n°11 is a blend of Spanish-style rums (ron). As in previous years, the rums selected by the French bottler are sourced in Panama and Nicaragua.

The difference is that it is aged in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, with a twist that may surprise your guests: a 48-hour infusion of smoked paprika.

Bottling is carried out in France without cold filtration.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is a subtle balance between gently caramelized rum and irresistibly smoky notes. The paprika is firmly in place and imposes itself quite naturally, making this a daring gamble that has paid off in spades.

Aeration reveals more smoke, which doesn't break the gourmet pleasure, quite the contrary. Next to a roaring fire, we're ready to enjoy our grilled vegetables in the company of a woody rum with sweet spices and caramel.

On the palate, paprika makes a tasty entrance, with a natural feel and sweet pepper flavors. We forget the smoke for a moment, as full-bodied bell pepper mingles with sweet spices and caramel, with a hint of animal that almost evokes chorizo. These notes, unusual to say the least for a rum, work very well, however, and invite you to indulge.

The finish is spicy and spicy, with vanilla smoke lingering on the palate for some time.

"Once again, a daring and successful gamble, a wildly gourmet idea..."

You've got to love smoke. But this is too good.
