Florent Beuchet, through his Compagnie des Indes brand, offers us this third selection of white rums for The Great Whites range.
The bottle, adorned with a great white shark, tells us all we need to know about this rum: it comes from Asia, and more precisely from Vietnam. It is a pure cane juice rum distilled in copper columns at the Quang Nam distillery. It is 50% proof, like all the rums in this collection, which will be renewed each year with different references and origins.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose offers us a cane of rare precision, full of licorice, menthol, spice and herbal freshness. Its slightly peppery fiber and freshly squeezed juice seem so close, you could almost touch it.
With aeration, a certain acidity begins to emerge, evoking citrus and intensely herbaceous juices. A slight metallic hint emerges, before returning to the precision and freshness of cane juice.
On the palate, after a lively attack, the cane takes up its quarters all around the palate, delivering a tasty indulgence for which it alone has the secret. Cane sugar, marron glacé, tonka bean, butterscotch - all these aromas follow one another and contribute to a delightful mid-palate.
The finish goes further into the heart of the distillate, revealing accents of licorice, olive, salt-preserved lemon and pepper.
"A beautiful expression of pure cane juice, as precise as it is generous..."
