Conde de Cuba 7 ans is a molasses rum in the pure Cuban tradition. The light style of these rums is born of the bourgeoisie's particular taste for fine, delicate rums.
The solera method is the basis of this blend, whose youngest rums are 7 years old.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a pleasant honeyed atmosphere, all golden and vanilla. The rum glides along smoothly, without a hint of alcohol, and is remarkably silky. Only a few woody touches add a little relief to ward off boredom.
Aeration reveals a denser, more powerful woodiness, but without any aggressiveness or tannin. It presents itself as a greedy, waxed, honeyed block, adorned with vanilla and coconut. In the background, a hint of yellow fruit spreads like a cream over the wood.
The palate is soft and well-balanced, and once again we find our very sweet, savory woodiness. It's a typical American oak profile, in a well-melted, vanilla and coconut milk-scented version.
The finish features roasted nuts and a slightly smoky aftertaste.
"A very silky rum, which treats the American oak barrel with great delicacy..."
