Conde de Cuba is a traditional molasses rum, typical of the light style produced on the island.

It is produced entirely in southeastern Cuba, in the town of Amancio Rodriguez in the province of Las Tunas. This is the region where the "medialuna" sugar cane is grown, which is the source of the molasses used.

Conde de Cuba takes its name from Francisco Dionisio Vives y Planes. This illustrious figure was awarded the title of Count of Cuba in 1832 by King Fernando VII of Spain. During his career in thesugar industry, he accumulated many honorary titles. It is in his honor that the Sevilla distillery is named "Conde de Cuba".

The distillery practises solera aging, a system inherited from Jerez wine in Spain. In this way, the older rums are said to "educate" the younger ones in a complex system ofblending.

The brand offers a blend of 7-year-old rums and a liqueur called Elixir. Read less
