A best-seller from Colombia's largest distillery, Dictador 12 ans is a cuvée that derives all its quality from the various stages of production.
Distillation begins in a copper still and continues in a metal column. The rum is then aged using the solera method, i.e. stacking oak barrels one on top of the other, giving young rums the benefit of the maturity of older rums.
Dictador 12 ans is both complex and balanced, with an exceptional aromatic palette. Enjoy it dry.
Laurent's tasting notes
Its color is amber.
On the nose, this rum is not so easy to identify. It offers a range of complementary aromas. Coffee, honey and caramel form the top three. Licorice and cinnamon follow. An interesting and relatively atypical profile.
On the palate, the attack is supple but not sweet. Its roasted character is still present alongside the caramel. Citrus notes appear and a surprising salty sensation completes the aromatic palette.
The finish is long. The coffee and licorice notes remain intense for many minutes.
