Dictador
The Colombian distillery Dictador was founded in 1913 under the name Destiliera Colombiana. The brand owes its name to the story of Severo Arango y Ferro. Severo Arango y Ferro arrived in what was then Nueva Granada. His mission was to collect taxes for the Spanish colonists, and he was soon nicknamed the Dictador for his authoritarian nature. When he first discovered the elixir we now call rum, he was won over and became one of the world's leading traders of the fruits of sugarcane distillation.
After the creation of Destiliera Colombiana, Don Julio Arango y Parra spent many years building on the legend of the Dictador and becoming the producer of Colombia's finest rum.
The third-generation family running the distillery has turned the brand into a world-renowned product, the fruit of solid knowledge and experience. Read less
