This box set, created by the Dusa distillery for Diplomático brand lovers, contains two bottles of rum: a Reserva and a Reserva Exclusiva . These two iconic vintages are aged 8 and 12 years respectively. By tasting these two rums in the same session, it will be interesting to compare what time brings to the character of Diplomático.
Tasting notes
While the nose of the 8-year-old Diplomático is marked by notes of walnut tart and cooked fruit, the 12-year-old brings aromas of prune and tobacco. They share a hint of caramel.
The relatively young age of Diplomático Reserva is distinguished by a rather lively and even quite dry attack. The rum reveals itself to be full of contrasts: both tannic and rounded. It also brings aromas of fruit compote and vanilla.
The attack of Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva is smooth with a syrupy impression. The aromas are expressed in a beautiful harmony and recall candied fruits, spices, vanilla, and licorice. The smoky note is very pleasant.
