Dzama Blanc de Nosy-Bé Prestige is the very first rum created by the founder of Dzama rums, Lucien
Lucien Fohine.
Even though the distillery on the island of Nosy-Bé has closed, the formula as well as the degree (42°) have been preserved in accordance with the original rum.
This is a blend of molasses rums distilled in columns from several of the island's distilleries.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is that of a light rum, invaded by a mess of citrus fruits. There's the bitterness and acidity of grapefruit and lemon, as well as Timut and Sechuan pepper. This spicy, even spicy note is quite frank.
With aeration, a sweeter aspect emerges. The lemon is now in syrup, and the strong spices melt away to evoke candied ginger. A light atmosphere still prevails, however, thanks to the persistent acidity of the citrus fruit.
On the palate, the attack is very round, even syrupy. Citrus fruits take center stage, in particular blood orange, which was not necessarily present on the nose. Grapefruit adds a welcome touch of bitterness, echoed by a chorus of spices.
The finish gives way to confectionery, barley sugar, lemon candy...
"A rum for cocktails that will bring its share of tangy citrus..."
