Dzama Millésime 1998 45°: Description and customer reviews

Dzama 1998 is the very first vintage in the range. The year was chosen to mark the arrival of Franck Fohine, son of the brand's founder, at the head of the Vidzar company.

The same year, but not the same cask, and not the same distillery either! In fact, it's a blend of rums from the island's 4 distilleries.

The rum is aged for a total of 10 years in Limousin oak barrels.

The bottle is trimmed with banana leaves.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is roasted and caramelized. The nuts are fatty, ground into a sort of gourmet but well-roasted paste. Sweet caramel rounds things out, with its creaminess and vanilla fragrance. Resting continues to soften all this, and we melt with the rum and indulge in a caramelized, chocolatey, gently spicy reverie. This candy is wrapped in oak, with tobacco and vanilla. The bark gives it just the right amount of hold.

The palate is very smooth and does not betray the promise of the nose. The attack is round and sweet, leading on to vanilla, sweet caramel, then to more roasted notes of toasted wood and nuts. The rum gradually dries out, leaving us face to face with strongly toasted oak, with a hint of charcoal.

The finish is more simply woody, with a slightly less roasted oak and a toffee-like coconut flavour.

"A roasted, caramelized rum bonbon, wrapped in oak bark..."

  1. Patricia

An excellent rhu, round and msuclé!

  2. LAURENT

For me, one of the best rums with these vanilla scents.

  3. DZ

It's a gift for a friend, and from what I understand, it's an excellent rum...
