Dzama Vieux rhum 6 ans is the very first genuine old rum produced by Vidzar, the Madagascan company that owns the brand.
It comes from the company's 4 distilleries, all located in Madagascar.
The rum is aged for 6 years in oak casks. These were filled with Scotch whisky from the Strathisla distillery (which produces the famous Chivas Regal).
The raffia sheath is made by rice-growing farmers. It represents a significant income supplement for rice-growing families, who can devote themselves to weaving the sheaths once the harvest is over.
