Famille Ricci Quintessence 2022 is a meticulous blend made with a small portion of all the rums selected throughout the year 2022. No fewer than 44 distilleries are represented in this blend.
The blend includes molasses rums and pure cane juice rums, both column and pot still distilled. Maturation takes place in French and American oak barrels ex-bourbon, pineau des Charentes blanc and cognac.

The composition is as follows:

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is a complex array of ripe, almost jammy fruit juices, coated with a generous dollop of spring honey. It is through the latter that the rum manages to develop a certain freshness, where a gently woody air blows.

With aeration, the sweet woodiness takes on a little more depth. Its mellow fiber is filled with sweet spices and fatty nuts, taking us for a moment into nuances of nougat and cane juice gently reduced to syrup. Rest then takes us to an older, more elegant and spicy oak, inhabited by ripe exotic fruits.

On the palate, all the complexity of the blend comes to the fore, and it's hard to describe what we're really dealing with. What we can say, however, is that the harmony is there, as the attack enjoys a well-regulated power, energetic but not burning. The mid-palate sees a few twists and turns of tropical fruit, spice-filled exotic wood, torrefaction and a hint of olive in brine.

The finish is both full-bodied and jammy, with a few scorched spices that keep the flame alive over the long finish.

"A complex blend that tends towards a full-bodied profile, albeit gently spicy and jammy..."
