Famille Ricci Rhum Influences 2 is a blend of molasses rums from Australia and Jamaica. This is the heart of the English tradition. The rums were first aged in ex-bourbon casks in the tropics.
As usual, the Ricci family has carried out an ageing process in white Pineau barrels. The secret of this cuvée lies in a special finish. This was developed in partnership with the Navarre cooperage. New oak and acacia mini-barrels were selected. A unique toasting technique called "Development Flavour" was applied.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, an array of exotic fruits unfolds, adorned with a veil of camphor that gives it a medicinal air. Slightly roasted notes add support, along with a little custard tinged with resin. The rum then wanders between a pastry-like sweetness and a very funky plantiness.
Aeration emphasizes the green, medicinal side, and also paves the way for red and black fruits. Cherry and prune mix their pits with that of an apricot, before integrating a marzipan soaked in rum and raisins.
The palate is first charmed by a set of very ripe exotic fruits, whose juice concentrates on the tongue. The rum's medicinal side arrives in the form of a wave of vegetal freshness, dressing the molasses in a thousand pine needles.
The finish is resolutely camphoraceous, and lingers on concentrated, elegant cores.
"A rum with an original profile, led by a very distinctive and refreshing camphor molasses..."
