Rivière du Mât Millésime 2006 is a traditional rum. This out-of-age cuvée comes from a single distillation carried out in 2006. The rum was aged in oak barrels in the tropical climate of the distillery's cellars.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a soft, vegetal profile, bordering on resin and medicinal. There are also a few slightly industrial touches, between oil and engine grease. An old, slightly damp cask also comes into play, with well-soaked wood and undergrowth aromas.
Aeration opens up the rum, allowing it to display its distinctive character with greater breadth. The profile is resolutely fresh and vegetal. The still green, resinous woodiness is imbued with menthol and camphor. With a little rest, a more pastry-like sweetness begins to rise to the surface.
The palate is at first soft, then gripping, with a green-wood freshness that takes hold of the taste buds relentlessly. Once the palate is definitively conquered, the rum unfurls deep notes of olive and engine grease. This is followed by greedy flavors of quince paste, apricot and cherry pit.
The finish continues with a beautiful amalgam of all the aromas encountered on the palate, and this continues for many minutes.
"Personality for this vintage, which contrasts with a much more consensual 2004..."
