Famille Ricci Rhum Influences 3 is a blend of molasses rums from Guyana and Guatemala. The first tropical aging took place in the cellars of their respective distilleries. Then the rums were brought to the south of France for further aging.
This is the heart of the Ricci family's work, this time transferring the rums to French oak barrels. A special finish was then applied. This was done in new acacia mini-barrels, to which we added a secret, never-before-seen toasting. Finally, the rums were left to rest and harmonize after blending in Sauternes barrels.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose balances fruity, colorful greediness with the full-bodied, almost mineral character of Guyana. The profile is typical of a certain English tradition, heavy and aromatic, but above all very generous and greedy.
Aeration lifts a small slick of camphor, which fades away to give way to a soft, vanilla oak, gently spiced. In depth, we sense that this wood has retained some of its resin, as well as a certain almost mentholated freshness that coexists with the licorice notes of molasses.
On the palate, the attack is round and greedy, with dark, almost chocolatey flavors. Roasted nuts and minerals then take control of the taste buds, before turning to molasses and maple syrup. Roasting then allows the wood to bring out its most gently spicy notes, such as vanilla, cinnamon and tonka bean.
The finish is lightly camphorated, with a slight resinous accent that lends it great charm.
