Nico's tasting notes
The nose greets us with a certain power, typical of the fruity minerality of the Clarendon distillery. The angles are sharp, but are gradually rounded out by a certain mellowness provided by the American oak, which unfurls its notes of vanilla, caramel and sweet spices.
With aeration, the rum finds its balance and its two characters are blended, in harmony. The fruit is sweeter, with greater depth and substance. This blend puts each part of the blend in its proper place, with the fruity, agitated rum playing its part perfectly alongside a lighter, greedily woody expression.
On the palate, the power catches up with us and introduces a new, energetic phase. There's no aggressiveness to be deplored, however: the rum is just playful and lively, with an intense, terribly concentrated fruitiness that transports us straight to Jamaica. Once there, we have the opportunity to lounge in an old waxed wooden armchair, surrounded by sweet spices, with a cigar box at hand.
The finish is therefore comfortable, gently spicy and even pastry-like, with a vegetal milk tinged with pits and slightly caramelized shortbread dough.
"A very nice balance has been found with this blend, which develops an intense gourmandise..."
