Foursquare Indelible is a blend of 11-year-old molasses rums produced on the island of Barbados. It is mark XVIII in the "Exceptional Cask Selection" range.
The blend is made from the distillery's exceptional crus, as the name suggests, distilled in the legendary double retort pot still and double column still (continuous distillation). The rum then spends many years on site in ex-bourbon and ex-zinfandel casks, a black grape variety of Croatian origin.
This edition was bottled in September 2021, without cold filtration.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is surprisingly light and freshly fruity. Unlike the house's usual style, there's no immediate access to the American oak cask, but the focus is more on a distillate inhabited by peaches and barely ripe exotic fruit.
With aeration, the relatively light character of this rum is confirmed. A few spices tickle the nostrils, blown by a little ethereal air. Wood and nuts are once again in the background, with light fruits and mild spices prevailing.
On the palate, the oak expresses itself through its toasted, toasted and even roasted character. It mingles with spices in an ethereal, sparkling dance, with hints of toasted coconut and vanilla. The profile remains dry and rather light, and the yellow fruit retains all its lightness.
The finish is more mature, with fruit now leaning towards vanilla-tinged orange peel jam.
