Gelas Panama 10 ans is a vanilla rum that has undergone two maturations. This column-distilled molasses rum first spent 10 years in old bourbon casks in Panama. It then travelled to the Gers region, to the home ofArmagnac producerGelas, where it was aged for a further few months in one of their barrels.
4000 bottles of this very sweet rum were produced.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is concentrated and candied. It seems sticky, like a cherry jam that has stuck to the pot a little. One can also imagine some stewed apricots, as well as gently and roundly spiced plums.
Aeration confirms the roundness of this rum, which now melts like a nougat with plump, caramelized almonds impregnated with vanilla tobacco.
The palate is round and light, with rum that gently caresses the taste buds. Its light heart offers an equally light profile, which imposes itself very gradually. The oak develops notes of blond tobacco and vanilla, just touched by cane sugar syrup.
The finish is both delicate and sweet, like a tender nougat.
"A very greedy nose that leads to a great lightness on the palate... "
