Germana Da Palha 40°: Description and customer reviews

Germana Da Palha is the historic cachaça from the Germana distillery (Sao Paolo region). It is aged first in French oak casks, then in exotic Bálsamo wood casks, for a total of 2 years.

Nico's tasting notes

The first nose is intense and rustic, with very (even too) ripe citrus fruit and powerful notes of fermentation reminiscent of truffles. This is pure, authentic cane juice, brushed by a little straw that's still green.

After a little aeration, the cachaça remains in this rather tight, taut, natural profile. There are a few gourmand waves, with a hint of nougatine and cocoa bean. A lovely complexity emerges, with a hint of stone, capers and preserved lemons.

The palate is immediately piqued by citrus fruits, whether in juice or zest form. The taste buds are awakened, ready to receive a straightforward cane juice with all the right ingredients: bagasse, strong pepper, fermented vesou. The register is earthy, rustic, like a good, fresh agricultural rum.

The finish lingers on spices and notes of fermentation that push on to truffles.

"An authentic, rustic cachaça, a close cousin of rhum agricole..."

If you like it, we recommend :

  • A slightly aged cachaça...
  • A young amber agricultural rum, already very mature...
