Green Spot Single Pot Still is an Irish whiskey distilled in a traditional copper pot still. It is made from malted and unmalted barley. It is distilled 3 times, as is customary in the region. It is distilled at the famous Midleton distillery on behalf of Mitchell & Son.
The wine is aged for 7 to 10 years in bourbon and sherry casks, the latter accounting for the majority of the final blend.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is composed of a soft mattress of cereals on which rests a good armful of cozy fruits. The latter are not devoid of a certain freshness, so the apple, pear and green banana stand out from the crowd.
Aeration reveals a little more of the concentration of this whisky, which does not lose its sweetness while gaining in intensity. The soft oak evokes a nougat tinged with fruits in syrup and water fruits; it is also encrusted with white nuts and fatty cereals.
The palate is light and delicate from the attack, and we find our fruits in syrup with the pear as leader. It gains a slight acidity to then offer us a little English candy that melts on the tongue, leaving a handful of spices and a hint of toasted oak.
In the finish , a very slight bitterness of red fruit takes over and opens the way to a few stones which bring a more pastry touch.
“A whiskey with delicate fruitiness and a gentle pastry flavor…”
