This Grosperrin N°68 is a cognac from Fins Bois which was produced on the limestone hillsides of the town of Vars, at around a hundred meters above sea level. A rare thing in Cognac, where the average altitude is around 20 meters.
This lot, made up of several barrels of old cognacs, was inherited twice. In 1982, on the death of her husband, the producer's widow inherited the estate and ceased to run it. In 2017, she died and bequeathed the precious eaux-de-vie to her children.
It was from them that Maison Grosperrin was able to buy back casks, including this one. This cask was housed separately from the other batches in the cellar of the son, himself a grower on his parents' land.
This is a cognac from a single cask, bottled in January 2021 at its natural strength.
