This Navy Strength agricultural rum is produced by the Montebello distillery in Petit-Bourg, Guadeloupe.
It is column-distilled from pure sugarcane juice, then transported under sail in an inert container to preserve its sparkling color and fresh cane aromas. The Gallant is a two-masted sailing ship built in the Netherlands in 1916. This mode of transport makes it possible to decarbonize maritime freight transport as much as possible.
This white rum is reduced to an alcohol content that pays homage to the Royal British Navy. Indeed, sailors only consumed spirits with a minimum alcohol content of 57°. This was to preserve the flammable properties of gunpowder if alcohol were inadvertently spilled on it.
