Guillaume de Roany, a spirits enthusiast, offers here a rum from the Foursquare distillery in Barbados.
This 100% tropical aged rum was sailed to mainland France.
412 bottles of brut de fût were produced.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, seriousness and indulgence do battle from the outset, only to quickly reconcile and become one. Concentrated, solvent oak meets intense, toasted coconut, followed by a dark, bold yet vibrant vanilla bean.
Aeration takes us into fruitier territory, with blood orange and citrus peel. The spices take flight in a cloud that then fills the atmosphere: cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and pepper provide an almost cola-like quality.
On the palate, it's a sticky, concentrated rum that takes hold of the taste buds in an instant, never to let go. Caramelized nuts coat the palate, aided by a powerful but perfectly regulated degree, and vanilla and coconut finish the seduction.
The finish is a little spicier, almost pastry-like, with a hint of cinnamon whose fine grain can almost be felt, mingled with that of the wood.
"This Barbados rum is a pure delight, with a concentration that is simply delicious..."

A marvel of barrel-aged rum, cradled by the rollers of the ocean on the crossing.
The result is an incredible salt-nut butter aroma (in my opinion...): I'm a fan.
