Hampden Great House Distillery Edition 2024 takes the place of the 6th vintage in this collection launched in 2019.
We do not have any additional details other than that this vintage is aged entirely in the tropics.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a rather subtle rum, delicately medicinal, gently vegetal, which first opens with gourmet almonds, frangipani style, then continues its blossoming with stewed exotic fruits.
With aeration, the fruits take on more and more substance and texture, so the banana that thickens is soft, the pineapple becomes juicier and the jackfruit more intoxicating. All this is held by a sheath that is both vegetal and woody, tropical and elegant, garnished with subtle spices.
The palate is just as successful and subtle as the nose, with a great delicacy of panettone with candied fruits, which seduces as much by its softness as by its regressive flavors. The subtlety lies in the fact that this delicacy is still measured, always held by this envelope made of liquorice, rosemary, resin, all with a hint of salt that makes you want to go back.
The finish is long and tasty, with sweet green olive, rum-soaked raisins, sticky and concentrated exotic fruit juices, and finally a breath of freshness that calls for another try.
“A classy Hampden that plays to its strengths with subtlety…”
