A long tradition

Founded in 1753, Hampden Distillery specialises exclusively in the distillation of Heavy Pot Still rums. Its High Ester rums are made using knowledge passed down from generation to generation, and using ferments developed over a century ago.

4 pot stills

4 pot stills of the Forsyth and Vendome brands allow the production of a variety of rums ranging from 50 to 1600 esters (the maximum allowed knowing that the distillery would be able to go up to 3000 esters). The higher the ester range, the more intense the rum bouquet.

Each type of rum produced by the distillery has a purpose: blending of other rums around the world, food industries (for the German and Dutch market in particular), flavours, fragrances....

Independent bottlers have led the way...

Almost all independent bottlers offer old rums from the Hampden distillery: Velier, Samaroli, Silver Seal, Compagnie des Indes, Cadenhead, Hunter Laing (under its Kill Devil brand), Duncan Taylor, TCRL, Berry Bros and Renegade...

...before Hampden produced rums under its own brand

After launching its Rum Fire white rum brand in 2011, it is indeed only since 2018 that Hampden has launched its own range of aged rum under its name. Read less
