At the ideal degree for making a ti'punch, HSE Blanc 55° is fine and expressive, with aromas of fresh cane.
This white rum won gold medals at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Nico's tasting notes
In brief: floral - dry - cane - exotic fruit - vegetable - powerful - balanced
On the nose, this is a true Martinique white rum, floral and dry. Serious and sharp, its floral notes of hibiscus or rose begin to form a whirlpool whose heart we're invited to explore. We then descend into an abyss of exoticism and color, with cane of course, but also ripe exotic fruit. No big notes of fermentation, but radiant, sweet fruit juices.
Time adds texture and fiber, and the cane takes shape more clearly. It's candied, but in moderation, and rather peppery. The straw is golden and sunny, with aromas of lemongrass, herbal teas and spices.
On the palate, the rum is more rustic. Its power explodes on the palate, but doesn't overwhelm the taste buds. It seems to concentrate until it implodes into earthier aromas of fermentation and almost mushroom. Then the exotic enchantment resumes, the dance of flowers and fruit resumes with gusto.
In the end, the cane is still with us. It's still whole, with a few grains of lime pulp.

Bought to make a rhum arrangé, I wasn't expecting such delicate, subtle aromas evoking rose, jasmine, ylang ylang and lychee. A wonderful discovery.
