Island Signature Turquoise Bay Mauritius is an amber rum that demonstrates the full extent of Mauritian know-how. The island's distilleries are capable of producing both molasses and pure cane juice rums, either in columns or stills.
This cuvée is a blend of the two traditions. Molasses rums aged 3, 5 and 8 years were blended in American and French oak barrels, before a touch of pure rum completed the profile.
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose : A light solvent accompanies ripe exotic fruits; a peppery note can be discerned over time.
On the palate : the initial impression is very gentle, the texture supple and buttery. A slight astringency is tempered by a welcome vanilla caramel. This gives way to ripe tropical fruits, accompanied by subtle toasted nuts. A peppery note lingers with the fruit flavors.
The finale : We're sticking with mild spices.
