JM White 50° - 1 liter! Description and customer reviews

JM 50° white rum is distilled from the juice of the sugar cane that grows at the foot of Mount Pelée. Drawing its aromas from Martinique's tropical soils and traditional distillation methods, it is ideal for tropical cocktails and the essential ti-punch.

This white agricultural rum was awarded the Jury Prize at the 2012 Ultimate Spirit Challenge. It also won a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition the same year.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose of this rum opens simply with natural cane. It quickly becomes lively, even spicy. Its character is authentic and assertive. The spices are present, and pepper stands out. It's simple and effective, a little vegetal and rounded out by honey.
It doesn't run out of steam on aeration, and the aromatic line remains the same. The alcohol that escapes from the glass is very well contained. On the finish, it develops floral aromas. After a little rest, we still have a very "natural" approach with wet, fermented cane.

On the palate, the expected liveliness is not lacking. There's a hint of hay and the strawiness of cane. Citrus fruits provide the fruitiness, and suddenly the rum reveals itself to be warmer and richer than expected. Although quite dry overall, fruity waves come and go. The fruitiness is fresh: pear, quince. We're even talking about watery fruits like melon or watermelon, and we could go as far as cucumber.

Richer than expected, I'd say, with licorice and a slight menthol on the finish. We'll stay on this track as it's the anise and caraway that linger.

"Rather than a tasting rum, this is an authentic ti-punch rum as we know how to make them in Martinique..."

Very pleasant in the mouth despite its 50° alcohol content. Ideal for a divine ti-punch: 10cc cane sugar syrup, 1/2 lime, 2 ice cubes.

  2. Emmanuel Mauzé

Just what I expected. Both spicy and mild. A tasty and subtle effect.

Cane flavour, power, you'll find yourself in MACOUBA when you taste it!
