Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Larceny 92 Proof 46°: Description and customer reviews

When petty theft rhymes with epicureanism: Bourbon Larceny 92 Proof
A true tribute in the bottle, Bourbon Larceny 92 Proof highlights part of the story of an 1880s Treasury agent: John E. Fitzgerald.
Famous for controlling the wineries of Kentucky, John E. Fitzgerald was also a learned taster. So much so, in fact, that the casks that particularly caught his eye were stamped "Fitzgerald". Their share of angels was quite substantial...
Larceny is in essence a Small Batch Bourbon. Its blend is the fruit of a meticulous selection of up to 100 casks at the Heaven Hill distillery.
The Bourbon is then aged for a minimum of 6 years in open cellars.

👃🏻 Initially, it reveals lovely notes of dried and sweet fruits, including orange and a little banana. It's round and delicious, with vanilla-flavored brown sugar blended with delicately spicy woody notes of cinnamon. On aeration, notes of mocha and coffee are confirmed, with caramel cream. It's definitely a pastry profile that emerges in the glass.

👅 here I have corn and dried fruit lining the mouth at first, between orange and apple as well as a good dose of vanilla too. It's unctuous, sweet, with a lovely caramel mingled with woody notes that bring a hint of pleasant bitterness in the mid-palate before regaining its greediness. The roasted aspect becomes more and more intense on subsequent sips, again delivering notes of coffee.

The finish is moderately long and continues with café au lait this time, followed by apple which makes its appearance again soon after quite clearly. With a little perceptible freshness and fairly lively spices that hold their own 👌

Here's a Wheated Bourbon that knows how to "give its voice". I find it quite expressive and interesting to taste. It manages to be both sweet and lively at times, and will undoubtedly delight connoisseurs! 😃
