Nico's tasting notes
The nose is typically vegetal and slightly smoky, with a cooked agave that retains some earthy notes, quite balanced though. Its concentrated, resinous side is counterbalanced by a mild, slightly sweet pepper, which at times surrounds itself with brine and oyster sauce.
With aeration, the pepper gains in stature, imposing its spicy yet sweet aromas. Smoke, leather and earthy notes combine to form a highly aromatic yet balanced front.
The palate is surprisingly acidic, full of fruit, bordering on candy. The mezcal immediately rolls around in gray pepper and smoke, to adorn itself in ashy hues. The concentrated, resinous, slightly minty vegetal flirts with licorice stick, and even whisky peat.
The finish is long and rich, with a lingering, lightly smoky aftertaste.
