Lagavulin 16 Year Old is a peated (35 ppm) single malt Scotch whisky from the island of Islay.
Since 1987, it has been one of the 11 whiskies in the "Classic Malts of Scotland" selection. This selection, created by Diageo, represents all the quality and diversity of Scotch produced in the different regions of Scotland.
Aged for 16 years in bourbon casks, this whisky benefited from a finishing period of a few weeks in sherry casks .
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose : roasted malt and very pronounced peat, with a slightly fresh and salty note in the background.
On the palate : the attack is round, quite soft; it releases the peaty malt, as if surrounded by a honeyed almond milk and accompanied by some dried fruit.
The finish : on the woody note, which does not extend, and the smoky side which persists for a very long time.
